How to buy IOTA

Within the US

  • Binance.com is your only choice. It’s a chinese exchange but I’ve used it and so far, so good. No complaints.
  • What you need:
    • An email address
    • Some crypto already in possession. Binance does not accept cash deposits through banking institutions. If you don’t already have some, here’s how to buy some with cash.
  • Steps:
    1. Sign up for a binance account with this link or scan the following QR:
    2. In the top menu, go to Funds -> Deposits Withdrawals
    3. Select the coin you’d like to deposit in here. Hit the Deposit button. Here’s an example with Dash
    4. Transfer the crypto already in your possession to this address.
    5. Transaction time varies depending on type of crypto and whether there’s a temporary surge in transactions (e.g. Ether would get affected if Vitalik Buterin announces that Amazon will start using his crypto). From my experience, transferring Ether to binance took between half an hour to 3 hours.
    6. When your crypto appears your binance account you’ll need them to be in either BTC, ETH, USDT, or BNB to buy IOTA. if they’re already in that form, proceed to Step 7. If not, convert them to either of those cryptos mentioned prior.
      1. To convert, sell your existing crypto in the appropriate market (BTC, ETH, USDT or BNB market)
      2. To do that, go to the binance homepage after logging on and select a market:
      3. Select the crypto you want to sell. For example, to sell Dash, I go to DASH/BTC
      4. I assume you’d know how to sell at this point and get your BTC, ETH, USDT or BNB
    7. Buy IOTA by going to your crypto’s market (go to home page, select appropriate market)
    8. Search for IOTA/<your crypto>
    9. Buy!

Outside of the US

  • The choices I’m aware of are Binance.com and Bitfinex.com
  • Follow the instructions for the US buyers above. They should be exactly the same or similar.
